“The President made it very clear this week, we’re not rethinking bringing again household separation,” Pence informed CNN’s Dana Bash.
“The President made it clear a 12 months in the past: We ended household separation, and we’re not contemplating going again to it,” Pence stated.
Pence careworn that the onus was on Congress to behave and supply a legislative resolution to what he stated was an insufficient immigration system.
“We have got to shut the loopholes in our legislation. We have got to finish ‘catch and launch.’ We have got to reform our asylum system,” Pence informed Bash. “And that is why Congress wants to take a seat down, Democrats in Congress want to take a seat down and take a break from the whole lot else they’re centered on and take care of what the American individuals need them to take care of, which is securing our border and defending our nation.”
The vice chairman sidestepped a query about whether or not Trump’s Wednesday evening tweet that Democrats’ views on border coverage had been “TREASONOUS” elevated the probability of such a compromise.
“I believe what you hear the President expressing is the frustration of the American individuals, that final month alone greater than 100,000 individuals got here throughout our southern border illegally,” Pence stated.
